Our Mission
At Virginia Pathways to Justice, our mission is to champion equity, justice, and democracy for communities of color. We believe that true justice can only be achieved when the voices and experiences of marginalized communities are at the forefront of our efforts. Our work is rooted in the understanding that systemic racism and inequality have deep historical and societal roots, and we are dedicated to dismantling these barriers through comprehensive and sustained action.
We engage in grassroots organizing, recognizing the power of community-led movements to drive change. By building strong, resilient networks within communities of color, we empower individuals to take collective action and advocate for their rights. Our organizing efforts are designed to foster leadership, build solidarity, and create a unified front against injustice. Advocacy is at the heart of our mission. We strive to amplify the voices of those who have been historically silenced and marginalized. Through strategic campaigns, public awareness initiatives, and coalition-building, we work to bring critical issues to the forefront of public consciousness. Our advocacy efforts are aimed at influencing public opinion, shaping policy agendas, and holding decision-makers accountable to the communities they serve.
Policy change is essential to achieving lasting social justice. We engage in rigorous research, policy analysis, and legislative advocacy to promote laws and policies that advance equity and justice. By collaborating with lawmakers, community leaders, and other stakeholders, we work to create a policy environment that supports the rights and opportunities of communities of color. Our policy initiatives address a wide range of issues, including criminal justice reform, economic justice, educational equity, and healthcare access.
Virginia Pathways to Justice will serve the Hampton Roads region of Southeastern Virginia, including the cities of Norfolk, Portsmouth, Virginia Beach, Newport News, Hampton, Suffolk, and Chesapeake.

In the future, Virginia Pathways to Justice envisions a society where systemic barriers are dismantled, marginalized voices lead the way, and communities of color thrive through equitable policies in justice, education, healthcare, and economic opportunity.
